Emilee Barnett, Counseling Intern
Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when trying to stay present in a world that is constantly evolving while also managing one's past. The demands of relationships, family dynamics, education, work, and extracurriculars can often feel overwhelming and stressful. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize caring for yourself by having a safe, supportive environment to process your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Together, we can collaborate to develop a path forward with whatever challenges may arise.
As an intern, I am dedicated to refining my identity as a therapist, utilizing a multidimensional approach tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs and wants. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques, including ACT, IFS, and CBT, and am working to expand my skills with DBT and art therapy. My experience spans working with individuals of all ages who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, and relationship challenges. I would describe my approach as one that is accepting and mindful, allowing our focus to be on values-based actions centered on what you find to be meaningful. I am deeply committed to my growth as a therapist and am grateful for the opportunity to work with you.
Some additional information about me:
I am graduating in May 2025 from Winthrop University with my Master's Degree in Counseling and Development, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my two dogs, of course), being active, and traveling.
